SALT LAKE CITY (Sept. 16, 2024) — Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is launching a week-long series of blood drives across four of its campuses in partnership with the American Red Cross of Utah, starting today. Each day this week, a different SLCC campus will encourage students, faculty, and community members, to donate blood and make a lifesaving difference.
The initiative highlights SLCC’s commitment to community service and provides a crucial opportunity for Utahns to contribute to the health and well-being of others. As the need for blood donations remains constant, these drives play a vital role in ensuring that hospitals and patients have access to the blood supplies they need.
“We are thrilled to team up with Salt Lake Community College to bring awareness about the need for blood donation to the campuses,” said Jeremiah Lafranca, Executive Director of the American Red Cross of Utah Greater Salt Lake Chapter. “SLCC’s commitment to hosting these blood drives across multiple campuses is a testament to their dedication to supporting community health.”
Blood Drive Schedule Across SLCC Campuses:
Secure Your Spot at an SLCC Blood Drive
Donors can schedule an appointment through the Red Cross Blood Donor App, by visiting redcrossblood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Use sponsor code SLCC to book an appointment at the community college campuses. If immediate donation opportunities are unavailable, donors are encouraged to schedule future appointments to help maintain a steady blood supply. All who come to give blood Sept. 16-30 will get a $15 e-gift card to their merchant of choice. Visit RedCrossBlood.org/Fall for details.
“Blood donation is a simple act that can profoundly impact someone’s life,” Lafranca said. “There are patients who need blood products to survive. Simply put, the availability of blood and platelets can be the difference between life and death.”
