SALT LAKE CITY (June 20, 2026) — The American Red Cross of Utah is offering a limited-edition Red Cross x Space Jam T-shirt at two Utah blood drives this week as part of the 30th anniversary of Space Jam™. West Valley City and Bountiful are among only 29 blood drive locations nationwide where donors can receive the shirt.
Donors who come to give at the Space Jam blood drives June 22 in West Valley City and June 27 in Bountiful will receive a limited-edition Red Cross x Space Jam T-shirt, while supplies last. The T-shirt showcases iconic Loony Tunes characters including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety and Sylvester. See RedCrossBlood.org/SpaceJam for details.
“The Red Cross is excited to team up with Bugs Bunny and the Tune Squad for Space Jam’s 30th anniversary,” said Benjamin Donner, executive director of the American Red Cross Central and Southern Utah Chapter. “We are grateful to Looney Tunes for helping draw more attention to the need for blood donors in such a fun way, especially during the summer when appointments can be harder to fill.”
The original Space Jam, released in 1996, blended live action and animation, pairing NBA legend Michael Jordan with Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes in a showdown against the Monstars. The film also featured former NBA center Shawn Bradley, an Emery High School graduate and BYU standout, along with Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Larry Johnson and Muggsy Bogues.
How to Donate for Space Jam Drives
Donors can make appointments through the Red Cross Blood Donor App, by visiting redcross.org/GiveBlood or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Use sponsor code SpaceJamUT to schedule an appointment for the Space Jam blood drives.
Those who come to give blood June 1-28, 2026, will also receive a $15 e-gift card and be entered for a chance to win one of two $7,500 gift cards. Additional details are available at RedCrossBlood.org/June.
Decline in Scheduled Donations
Scheduled blood donation appointments have dropped sharply nationwide in recent weeks, contributing to the loss of several thousand units in just one week. Nearly 90% of blood donations come from scheduled appointments, making appointment trends a critical measure of blood supply stability.
Blood donations often decrease during the summer as the school year ends, families travel and regular routines change. Hospitals need blood every day, and because donated blood has a shelf life of only 42 days, regular donations are essential to maintaining a stable supply.
