SALT LAKE CITY (May 18, 2022) —The American Red Cross of Utah will honor the U.S. military at an Armed Forces Day free concert event this Saturday, May 21, at the Gallivan Center. The Choral Arts Society of Utah will perform, and Red Cross staff and volunteers will be on-site to provide information about the organization’s many programs designed to support active-duty military, veterans, and their families starting at 5 p.m. Saturday.
“On this 72nd Annual Armed Forces Day, we show our appreciation to the men and women who serve in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard,” said Dee Dodwell, Red Cross of Utah Service to the Armed Forces/International Services Director. “But the Red Cross also supports our military every day.”
Red Cross Service to the Military programs include:
“The American Red Cross offers around-the-clock relief and resources globally, not only to service members and veterans, but also to military families and caregivers,” Dodwell said. “We help them prepare for, cope with, and respond to the challenges of military service.”
In addition, the Red Cross of Utah recently opened its first ever service desk at Hill Air Force Base, providing in-person assistance and becoming a permanent part of the base community.
“Military families face numerous challenges over the years,” Dodwell said. “Through it all, Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces is there to help, in ways big and small.”
