The Central California Region exists to provide compassionate care to those in need. Our generous donors, volunteers and employees are part of a nationwide network committed to preventing and relieving suffering here at home, across the country and around the world.
The Red Cross empowers ordinary people to perform extraordinary acts in emergency situations. We train. We mobilize. We connect donors and volunteers to those in urgent need of a helping hand. Whether it’s a wildfire or a home fire, a call for blood, or a call from a service member or military family in need, the Red Cross is there.
We provide food and shelter in emergencies, assist members of our armed forces, veterans and their families, teach lifesaving skills to ensure our communities are prepared to respond to emergencies, and so much more. All Red Cross assistance is free, made possible by voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.
As reflected in the Red Cross mission, the Central California Region seeks to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to natural and human-caused disasters through the immediate mobilization of people and resources and the provision of community, workplace, and school-based training.
Beyond disaster relief, the Region delivers Community-Disaster Education, First Aid/CPR, and other types of life-saving health & safety training to thousands of people across our region to help people prevent, prepare, and respond to emergencies.
This training targets underprivileged youth and families living in disaster-prone neighborhoods and/or at-risk for negative health outcomes.
The Red Cross is also the Congressionally-mandated agent of communication between every person serving in the United States Military and their family members.

Each chapter within the Central California Region also has a volunteer Board of Directors which ensures that the chapter is meeting the needs of their communities and acting as an effective and efficient steward of our donors’ contributions. This group develops the vision for each chapter and determines the policies that guide decisions.
A regional leadership team as well as chapter management staff members are responsible for ensuring that all individuals have access to quality Red Cross services and programs that adhere to our mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
The Central California Region also mobilizes local volunteers and resources to help respond to disasters nationwide and globally.
