LOS ANGELES, September 5 — As the American Red Cross works around the clock along the Gulf Coast to help the thousands of people whose lives have been devastated by Hurricane Harvey, a much needed $500,000 donation was made by mega superstar Pink to assist in the relief and recovery efforts.
“Donations such as this are desperately needed to get resources to the thousands of residents effected by Harvey,” said Jarrett Barrios, CEO of the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region. “Pink’s kindness and support of the Red Cross is moving and exemplifies the spirit and generosity of the American people who have come together during a time of great need.”
Pink’s generosity comes at a great time, especially knowing that disasters such as this are a marathon and not a sprint, and that the recovery efforts will last for months and years. Her support and contribution will help realize the long-term recovery efforts for the victims of Harvey.
As with all donations designated to Harvey Relief, funds will help the Red Cross provide resources such as food, drinks, blankets, cots, cleaning supplies and recovery information; as well long-term needs such as recovery planning and community recovery support.
As the Red Cross continues to provide services to those impacted by Harvey, efforts are also gearing up to prepare and respond to Hurricane Irma that is currently making its way through the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and potentially making landfall in Florida. This adds to the growing need for continued donations and volunteers.
