Kent Kasper of Sherman Oaks with shelter partner Carlos Martinez
By Randy Ogden
The threat of wildfire is still very real for residents of Sherman Oaks where residents are closely watching for notification of an evacuation. Community members regularly stop by the shelter to check in and see what’s available, “just in case.”
Kent Kasper is one of the many community members who stopped by the shelter to offer help. In his professional life he is an acting coach, so of course he took the time to offer a quick lesson to our Red Cross volunteers working there. It was his unique way of giving back. Bravo!
Amid extreme disaster, a true sense of community is often what emerges. As the American Red Cross, we have the privilege of witnessing this generosity firsthand. It comes from our teams, our many partners, and directly from the individuals we serve. Each time it rekindles our passion to be helpers in times of greatest need.
