For two decades, the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region has celebrated our Hometown Heroes—Angelenos who rise to the occasion when lives are on the line. These remarkable individuals act decisively in moments of crisis, reflecting the very essence of our mission: to bring help and hope when it matters most.
When emergencies strike—wildfires, earthquakes, home fires—families need immediate relief and a path toward recovery. The Red Cross answers that call every day, but we can’t do it alone. Our ability to respond depends on the steadfast support of partners like California Resources Corporation (CRC).
As the 20th Anniversary Sponsor donor level of this year’s Hometown Heroes Luncheon aboard the Queen Mary, CRC helped make this milestone event a true celebration of courage and compassion. Their commitment, alongside that of many generous partners, allowed us to honor everyday people who step forward in times of need and embody the heart of the Red Cross mission.
CRC has been a trusted partner since 2015, investing in disaster preparedness and response efforts across Los Angeles. Their support of the Sound the Alarm campaign has equipped families in high-risk neighborhoods with free smoke alarms and lifesaving fire safety education. In addition, CRC regularly hosts Red Cross blood drives, helping ensure hospitals have the critical blood supply needed when emergencies occur.
“CRC’s dedication to disaster preparedness and response has truly made a difference for families throughout Los Angeles,” said Amy Papageorges, executive director of the American Red Cross Greater Long Beach and South Bay Chapter. “Their partnership ensures we can deliver critical services when people need them most. With this commemorative plaque, we honor their support of the 20th Hometown Heroes event, and recognize their year-round generosity.”
Beyond financial support, CRC employees regularly volunteer with Red Cross programs—a powerful testament to the company’s ongoing commitment to building safer, stronger communities.
