LOS ANGELES, September 19, 2025 — From September 15 to October 15, the American Red Cross proudly celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, honoring the vibrant histories, cultures and countless contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. This month is a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience and unity that define the Latino community—now the fastest-growing demographic in the United States.
At the Red Cross, we are committed to ensuring that our services, outreach and resources are inclusive, culturally sensitive and accessible to all. This commitment is reflected in our growing enterprise-wide Latino Engagement efforts, which continue to make a meaningful difference in communities across the country.
Empowering Communities Through Connection
Our goal is to deepen engagement with Latino communities in our blood mission, recognizing the vital role Latino donors play in providing lifesaving blood products for patients in need. Through this work, we aim to build trust and promote health equity by delivering accessible health information and resources that resonate with the communities we serve.
Expanding Access and Representation
Through our Diverse Community Investment Program, we’ve expanded outreach efforts to ensure our services are not only available—but impactful. We’ve created new pathways for Spanish-preferred and monolingual individuals to volunteer, strengthening our ability to serve diverse communities with compassion and care.
In 2024, we launched the Translator Hub, a powerful tool that enables us to deliver culturally relevant messaging tailored to Spanish-speaking audiences. This innovation ensures that our communications are not just translated—but truly understood.
Investing in the Next Generation
In Spring 2025, we proudly released all WHALE Tales educational materials in Spanish for the first time. These water safety resources—designed for children in grades K–6—have been thoughtfully trans created to preserve the creativity, rhyming and educational impact of the original English versions. By teaching safe behaviors in and around water, we’re helping to build a foundation of safety and awareness from an early age.
Celebrating Our People
During Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate the incredible contributions of our Hispanic and Latino volunteers, staff and community partners. Their dedication, leadership and cultural richness are integral to our mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies.
As we honor this month, we reaffirm our commitment to equity, inclusion and community empowerment—today and every day.
