LOS ANGELES, MARCH 11, 2026 — New American Red Cross data released today shows a snapshot of multigenerational volunteerism here in Los Angeles.

From Gen Z to the Silent Generation, people of all ages comprise more than 9,000 volunteers for the Los Angeles Region. According to demographic estimates shared by most Red Cross volunteers in Los Angeles County:

• Gen Z is the fastest-growing and largest group of volunteers (48%), driven largely by growth in student-led Red Cross clubs.
• Millennials account for roughly a quarter of volunteers (34%), followed by Baby Boomers (9%) and Gen X (7%) to anchor core mission roles.
• The Silent Generation is the smallest cohort at less than (1%) but contributes a legacy of service that often spans multiple decades.

• Responded to 458 local emergencies.

• Honored four people in Los Angeles with a National Lifesaving Award for helping save lives with Red Cross skills such as first aid and CPR.
