On Tuesday, February 13, the Broward County Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee hosted a tour of the African American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC) in honor of Black History Month.
Led by the museum's librarian, Dr. Ramona La Roche, volunteers and staff toured the incredible 60,00 sq. ft facility, one of only three of its kind in the U.S. The museum credits its founding to Samuel F. Morrison, the former director of Broward County Library, who wanted to build a library by and about African Americans for the Broward community and the world at large.
Since its inception in 2002, AARLCC has displayed over 38 major exhibits and offered 184 cultural programs to over 895,000 customers, celebrities, noted authors and international speakers who have made AARLCC a thriving center and a vital gathering hub for Broward County residents.
Commemorate Black History Month by signing up to volunteer with the American Red Cross at redcross.org/SouthFlorida.
