The American Red Cross in Greater New York recently celebrated team members who embody the values of the organization. Nominated by their peers, each is lauded for their actions displaying the value. This is the inaugural class of 5 C Award honorees in the Greater New York Region.

Background about our principles and values
The Red Cross is guided by the Fundamental Principles of the Global Red Cross Network - Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. In addition, there are five core values that are essential to our continued success. These values drive how we accomplish our goals and conduct ourselves to execute and achieve our mission:

• Compassionate: We are dedicated to improving the lives of those we serve and to treating each other with care and respect.
• Collaborative: We work together as One Red Cross family, in partnership with other organizations, and always embrace diversity and inclusiveness.
• Creative: We seek new ideas, are open to change and always look for better ways to serve those in need.
• Credible: We act with integrity, are transparent guardians of the public trust and honor our promises.
• Committed: We hold ourselves accountable for defining and meeting clear objectives, delivering on our mission and carefully stewarding our donor funds.
   

The 2024 5C Honorees
The Greater New York Regional Leadership team created the GNY 5C Awards to celebrate team members who exemplify these values. The award and nomination process are based on a similar program that exists in the Red Cross Illinois Region.

The honoree descriptions include language submitted by their peers as part of the nomination process.
