The American Red Cross is responding to a widespread flooding event that is impacting multiple communities in Washington State. Red Cross shelters are now open in Snohomish, King and Lewis Counties. We are working with local emergency officials to determine if and where additional shelters may be needed.
Shelter information will be distributed as the situation evolves. Please also follow us on Facebook @RedCrossNorthwest for the latest information on our Red Cross response, and follow this link to find the nearest open shelter:
Assistance available at the shelters includes food, cots, and other urgent needs. Evacuating residents are encouraged to bring the following for each member of their family: prescription and emergency medication, extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, important documents, and other comfort items. Additionally, special items for children and infants, such as diapers, formulas, and toys, should be brought along with other items for family members who may have other needs.
DOWNLOAD EMERGENCY APP
People should download the free Red Cross Emergency App to receive emergency alerts and information about what to do in case of tornadoes, flooding and other disasters, as well as locations of shelters. The App also includes emergency first aid information and a Family Safe feature which allows people to instantly see if loved ones are okay. The free Emergency App is available in app stores by searching for the American Red Cross or going to redcross.org/apps.
