LOS ANGELES, NOVEMBER 19, 2025 — The American Red Cross Los Angeles Region recognizes and encourages young volunteers as part of National Youth Involvement Month (NYIM), the annual celebration of youth and young adult volunteers nationwide. Every November, the Red Cross National Youth Council hosts a month of activities and virtual events to showcase the power of service. Aligning with this year’s theme of “Red Cross in Motion,” Los Angeles area youth and students can learn about ways to get involved, participate in challenges and fundraisers, attend virtual educational events, connect with peers, and win prizes. National Youth Involvement Month events are underway, and students, clubs, and young volunteers can sign up now at redcross.org to discover how to create lasting change through volunteer service with the Red Cross.
“American Red Cross serves the Los Angeles region in many ways, and youth volunteers are essential to this work—they embody the ‘Red Cross in Motion’ and are making a real difference in our communities,” said Jordan Rodgers, Interim Regional Volunteer Services Officer, American Red Cross Los Angeles Region. “They’re supporting disaster relief, leading blood drives on campus, promoting community preparedness, and extending their impact through creativity, energy, and a dedication to service. By volunteering and joining the National Youth Involvement Month events, young people have an opportunity to learn new skills and connect with peers to change the world together.”
Throughout NYIM, young people can get involved with the Red Cross to discover ways to make an impact in their community, connect with others locally and nationally, and gain transferrable skills to support professional growth and future goals. The youth and young adult programs are designed for those ages 13-24. Registered participants can win prizes through select NYIM events, and students are encouraged to join or start events on their school campus. Among the activities this year:
“The Red Cross taught me that empathy and compassion aren’t soft skills—they’re essential,” said Dana Kim, a Los Angeles Region Red Cross youth volunteer, “It helped me understand who I want to be: someone who serves, listens and makes a tangible difference in people’s lives.” Read more about her service online.
Details on how to participate in all NYIM initiatives are available at redcross.org, along with information on year-round or seasonal opportunities to volunteer with local chapters and to get involved with the National Youth Council and National Young Professionals Council. Red Cross youth volunteers may also be eligible for scholarships and awards.
