Northern California Coastal Region Red Cross Home Fire Campaign

The Red Cross responds to home fires more than any other disaster combined. The Home Fire Campaign helps save lives by installing free smoke alarms in homes and educating communities about home fire safety.

If you cannot afford to purchase smoke alarms or are physically unable to install a smoke alarm, the Red Cross may be able to help.

2024 Sound the Alarm Results

Thank you to our generous donors and volunteers who helped make our 2024 Sound the Alarm signature period a success! (Signature period = April 1 – 30, 2024)

During this year's Sound the Alarm campaign we:

Provided home fire prevention and safety information to 1,210 local residents

Installed 1,236 free smoke alarms

Made 452 households safer

Home fires claim seven lives every day, but having working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death by half.

That’s why the American Red Cross is rallying volunteers to install free smoke alarms nationwide, as part of our Sound the Alarm events.

This year we’ll install free smoke alarms, create escape plans and share fire safety information.
