The 2-Minute Fitness Challenge is a virtual event hosted on Facebook that encourages participants to get active, fundraise to help those impacted by home fires, and interact with others taking on the challenge. Participants will complete as many reps as they can in 2 minutes each day (e.g., sit ups, push-ups, jump rope) during the month of May and record that they’ve completed their daily 2 minutes.
2 minutes may be how long you have to escape from a home fire before it’s too late. The American Red Cross responds on average to more than 60,000 disasters every year and the vast majority are home fires. Home fires are a significant threat to our communities, claiming seven lives every day in the U.S. And unlike natural disasters, home fires are largely preventable through fire safety education and preparedness.
The Red Cross educates at-risk communities on home fire preparedness through Sound the Alarm and this spring we invite you to support this effort by fundraising and spreading awareness about home fire safety during this fitness challenge.
So, while you are taking on those 2 minutes of exercise, we hope you’ll remember what those 2 minutes represent. By fundraising, you are helping save lives from home fires.
Note: Please allow 4-6 weeks for shipment. Shipping within the U.S. only. Items available while supplies last.
By fundraising through the 2-Minute Fitness Challenge, the money you raise will help families prepare for, respond to and recover from home fires. You can also protect your family by testing your smoke alarms monthly and practicing your 2-minute fire escape drill. Learn more at SoundTheAlarm.org.
