SAN JOSE, Calif., July 14, 2022 — The Board of Directors of the American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter held its annual meeting in June and elected two new members to the board.
The new board members bring diverse experiences to this leadership body, including a unique youth perspective and significant experience in project management and community engagement in the Silicon Valley area. The new members began their terms effectively on July 1. The newly elected board members are:
- Faith Fernandes - Student at Ann Sobrato High School - Youth Leadership Representative
- Jonas Mari - Sr. Director, Advocacy Analytics at Zendesk
During the past fiscal year, Red Cross board members and volunteers in the Silicon Valley Chapter responded to 286 local disasters, providing care, comfort, and hope to those affected; installed hundreds of free smoke alarms to make families safer; taught lifesaving skills like water safety, first aid and CPR to thousands of residents; collected over 16,600 units of blood, and assisted more than 2,600 members of the armed forces, veterans and their families.
“As we move forward into the next fiscal year, we celebrate our new board members and we look forward to the additional impact they will make in our Silicon Valley community,” said Ken Toren, CEO for the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Red Cross. “Their diverse experience combined with the expertise of our volunteer workforce will be the key to delivering the Red Cross mission in service of all residents in Santa Clara County.”
Toren also thanked the board's outgoing members, David Bolling Wells and Stan Dutrow, for their years of service to the board.
