SANTA ROSA, CA – September 5, 2019 — The Board of Directors of the American Red Cross California Northwest Chapter held its annual meeting in June and elected four new members to the board.
The new board members bring diverse experiences to this leadership body, including decades of experience in communications, human resources, and the wine and auto industries of the North Bay area. The new members began their terms effectively July 1. The newly elected board members are:
- Larry Smith, VP Human Resources, Jackson Family Wines
- Corinne Galarza, General Manager, CarMax Santa Rosa
- Rituja Bhowmik, Student, Maria Carrillo High School
- Deanna Contreras, Public Information Officer, PG&E
“As we dive into the next fiscal year, we look forward to the potential of our new members combined with the expertise of our officers," says Jeff Baumgartner, Executive Director of the America Red Cross California Northwest Chapter. “Their combined diverse experiences are critical to the work our Chapter does for the residents of Northwest California.”
During the past fiscal year, our work in the community made quite an impact,” Baumgartner says. “Our volunteers responded to 121 local disasters, providing care, comfort, and hope; installed more than 1,697 smoke alarms to make families safer; taught lifesaving skills like first aid, CPR and AED to more than 9,000 residents; and assisted more than 550 members of the armed forces.”
Baumgartner also thanked the board's outgoing members, John Ghigliazza, Stacy Drucker-Andress, Lt. Luciana Ganley, Annie Schaefer, and Nate Weis for their years of service to the board.
