San Francisco, CA [November 26, 2019] — As the nation prepares to celebrate Thanksgiving, American Red Cross Northern California Coastal Region would like to thank everyone who supported our lifesaving mission this year to help families in need, especially our Ready 365 Partners who stand with the Red Cross year round – PG&E, Robert Half, The Swinerton Foundation, Varian, Applovin, Oracle and Kaiser Permanente.
Every eight minutes, someone affected by disaster is helped by donations to the Red Cross. With the generosity of donors and the selfless commitment of volunteers—who represent 90 percent of our disaster workforce—thousands of people across the country depended on us this year for shelter, food, relief items, comfort, and recovery assistance.
This work is made possible year-round by the dedication of our donors, volunteers, and partners. Together, we’re providing support today for people affected by the wildfires in California, along with those recovering from countless other crises like Hurricane Dorian, and home fires in communities nationwide.
Program members help the Red Cross each year in the Northern California Coastal Region to respond to 870 local disasters; install 11,000 smoke alarms, collect over 73,000 blood donations; empower nearly 98,000 residents with lifesaving courses, such as First Aid/CPR, Water Safety, Babysitting, and disaster preparedness training and assist nearly 16,000 military members, their families, and veterans.
“None of this would be possible without the support and generosity of the supporters of the Red Cross, especially our Ready 365 partners, who value the local impact and global reach of the Red Cross,” said Jennifer Adrio, Regional Chief Executive Officer, American Red Cross Northern California Coastal Region.
“Our Ready 365 partners want to make a difference, to help save lives and help people 365 days a year. Therefore, they pre-invest in our local disaster preparedness and relief services. This enables our amazing volunteers to respond immediately to the needs of individuals and families impacted by disaster anywhere."
