SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. August 11, 2026 — The American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter is pleased to announce the election of two accomplished professionals to its Board of Directors and the appointment of its 2026–2027 board officers. Together, these leaders will help advance the Red Cross mission to prepare for, respond to and help communities recover from emergencies.

The newly elected board members are:

• George Tong, Sr. Research Analyst at Goldman Sachs
• Marissa Smith, Tax & Estate Attorney

In addition, the chapter recognizes the dedicated service of two longtime board members who have recently concluded their board terms and have been named Board Member Emeriti in honor of their commitment to the Red Cross:

• Jeff Block
• Gary Zellerbach

The following officers will lead the Bay Area Chapter Board of Directors during the 2026–2027 fiscal year (July 1, 2026 – June 30, 2027):

• Chair: Kenzie Ferguson – Delta Dental of California, Vice President, Foundation & Corporate Social Responsibility
• Vice Chair: Michelle Woods – KRON, Director of Sales
• Secretary: Dr. DeAndre Turner – Kaiser Permanente, Regional RN Program Manager

"Our Chapter Board members play a vital role in advancing the Red Cross mission throughout the Bay Area," says Justin Mueller, CEO of the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter. "I am excited to work alongside this exceptional group of leaders as we expand our impact, engage our communities and provide help and hope to those facing emergencies."

During the past fiscal year, 4,793 Red Cross volunteers and board members in the Bay Area Chapter contributed 360,582 hours to the mission and responded to 378 local disasters, providing care, comfort and hope to people affected by home fires and other emergencies. The chapter also collected 83,266 units of lifesaving blood, delivered first aid, CPR, AED, water safety and caregiving training to more than 48,957 residents, and opened 1,031 cases to support members of the military, veterans and their families.
