This course will train instructor candidates to teach basic-level American Red Cross First Aid CPR and AED courses. In order to participate in this course you must possess a current basic-level American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED (or higher level) certification or equivalent and be at least 16 years of age on the last day of the instructor course. Upon registration it is important that you review and follow the directions on the e-mail attachment sent with your registration confirmation. This is a blended learning course consisting of online content a skills session and classroom segments. Online material must be completed prior to attending the classroom activities. For more information please reference the attachment you will receive via e-mail when you register for this course.
The Lifeguarding Instructor course trains instructor candidates to teach American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses including Lifeguarding Shallow Water Lifeguarding Aquatic Attraction Lifeguarding Waterpark Skills Waterfront Skills CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Bloodborne Pathogens Training. This class is taught in a blended learning format and the online portion (accessed via mobile desktop or tablet) must be completed prior to attending the first in-person session of the instructor course. Prerequisites: 1. Minimum age: 17 years 2. Possess a current Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid 3. Ability to successfully demonstrate all Lifeguarding and CPR skills including a precourse assessment to perform a water rescue (submerged drowning) extrication single rescuer CPR for 3 minutes.
This course also known as WSI™ trains American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor candidates to teach courses and presentations in the Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program by developing their understanding of how to use the course materials how to conduct training sessions and how to evaluate participants’ progress. The courses and presentations include Parent and Child Aquatics Levels 1 and 2 Preschool Aquatics Levels 1 - 3 Learn-to-Swim Levels 1 - 6 three adult courses as well as the Basic Water Rescue and Personal Water Safety courses and more. To enroll instructor candidates must be at least 16 years of age on or before the last day of the instructor course and successfully complete the precourse session which includes demonstration of swimming skill at Learn-to-Swim Level 4.

The online Advanced Life Support instructor trainer bridge is designed to allow instructor trainers currently certified with approved equivalent training organizations to become certified as American Red Cross Advanced Life Support instructors Trainers. To participate in the instructor trainer bridge candidates must hold a current instructor trainer equivalent certification from the American Heart Association or ASHI.Candidates must meet course prerequisites and upload qualifying credential to complete the training and earn American Red Cross instructor trainer certification.Those who have enrolled in this online bridge course on or after May 13 2021 will not be required to complete an Instructor Trainer Update in order to teach new Advanced Life Support Focused Updates and Guidelines 2020 content releasing in June 2021.
