When Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Philippines, the Red Cross was one of the first organizations to start helping families affected by the storm—delivering food, healthcare and other vital assistance in the typhoon’s wake. Three months later, there is still a lot of work to be done as the Red Cross helps people regain their livelihoods and restore their neighborhoods. But there has also been immense progress in meeting the needs of men, women and children during their recovery.
About the American Red Cross:
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to victims of disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members and their families. The Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to deliver its mission.
