Six-Year Commitment Supports Red Cross Response to Twice as Many
Major Disasters as a Decade Ago
The American Red Cross recognizes the Zoetis Foundation, headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, for its $3 million donation for a six year-commitment (July 2024-June 2030) to the Annual Disaster Giving Program (ADGP). By making a donation to Red Cross Disaster Relief, the Zoetis Foundation helps ensure the organization can quickly respond to disasters big and small and help people in need at a moment’s notice.
ADGP members, along with their employees and customers, pledge financial and in-kind donations in advance of disasters to power the Red Cross with the infrastructure, volunteers, technology and resources to provide relief in times of crisis. These donations enable the Red Cross to mobilize an immediate response — offering a safe place to sleep, a nutritious meal, emotional support and supplies to aid in recovery — while also helping prepare people and communities for future disasters.
As large disasters like severe storms, extreme heat, record floods and widespread wildfires continue to become more frequent and intense due to the climate crisis, donations from ADGP members are more important than ever to power Red Cross relief efforts for those who need it most.
“The Zoetis Foundation builds on the Zoetis Inc. purpose to nurture our world and humankind by advancing care for animals, and our colleagues are dedicated to supporting the communities in which we live and work,” said Jeannette Ferran Astorga, President of the Zoetis Foundation and Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs, Communications and Sustainability at Zoetis. “When disaster strikes, we appreciate the rapid response and expertise of the Red Cross. The Zoetis Foundation’s multi-year donation is one way we can help when people are impacted by disasters.”
Every year, the Red Cross reaches an average of 40 million people affected by disasters worldwide through the global Red Cross and Red Crescent network. In addition to providing domestic support, the Zoetis Foundation’s commitment also supports Red Cross International Services to help ensure the organization can provide hope and comfort to those affected by disasters around the globe. These vital funds support coordinating with the global network to prepare for and respond to emergencies wherever and whenever they occur.
“We are so very grateful to the Zoetis Foundation for their generous commitment to our lifesaving mission in advance of disasters both big and small,” said Anne McKeough, chief development officer at the American Red Cross. “As families and communities struggle to cope with more frequent and intense weather events, forward-thinking ADGP members like the Zoetis Foundation enable us to prepare for disasters and offer vital assistance, making a profound impact on those facing adversity.”
Donations from ADGP members also support basic needs for families affected by home fires — which comprise the bulk of Red Cross response efforts — and help ensure the Red Cross can continue offering disaster preparedness education.
Other $500,000 level ADGP members include these major leading companies and organizations: Altria Group; American Express; Aon; Bread Financial; Capital One; Chick-fil-A; Citi Foundation; The Clorox Company; Danaher Foundation; Darden Foundation; Delta Dental; DHL Supply Chain; DraftKings; Edison International; Energy Transfer/Sunoco Foundation; Ford Motor Company Fund; Fox Corporation; General Motors; Google.org; HCA Healthcare; The Home Depot Foundation; The J.M.
