The American Red Cross announced Farmers Insurance® is deepening its longstanding support for disaster relief services across the United States by joining the nonprofit’s Disaster Responder Program. Farmers® made a $250,000 contribution to Red Cross Disaster Relief effective January 1, 2026, which will help provide financial assistance to people affected by disasters big and small, whenever and wherever they occur across the country.
A longtime supporter of the Red Cross, Farmers Insurance has donated millions of dollars and thousands of volunteer hours over the past three decades. Their most recent contribution will help the Red Cross provide immediate financial support to people in the wake of disasters and additional financial assistance for those experiencing the greatest roadblocks to recovery.
“At Farmers, we take great pride in supporting the Red Cross through disaster relief, blood drives and volunteer service,” said Courtney Vandermause, director of Corporate Citizenship for Farmers Insurance. “Our investment in the Red Cross Disaster Responder Program reinforces our shared commitment to helping people before, during and after disasters, and to making a meaningful impact in communities nationwide.”
Financial assistance is essential in empowering those affected by disasters to cover their most pressing expenses — whether it’s urgent needs like clothing and transportation or longer-term essentials like home repairs — this aid is a vital step in helping people move forward. The Red Cross provided nearly 60% more financial assistance last year than in the previous five years and has expanded financial assistance to support survivors immediately and in the weeks and months following a disaster.
The Red Cross responds to more than 60,000 disasters across the country every year, providing comfort and hope in times of crisis. As rapidly intensifying storms, extreme heat, record floods and widespread wildfires continue to devastate communities across the country, donations from Disaster Responder members are more important than ever to power Red Cross relief efforts for those who need it most.
“Increasing severe weather events mean that families are relying on the Red Cross now more than ever,” said Anne McKeough, chief development officer at the American Red Cross. “We are so thankful for Disaster Responder members like Farmers Insurance for their forward-thinking commitment that powers our preparedness and relief efforts, ensuring we can immediately provide help and hope to those facing their darkest day.”
In addition to its financial commitment, Farmers Insurance hosts blood drives for its employees to help patients in need of lifesaving blood across the country. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. The Red Cross supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood, and it relies on generous volunteer donors — along with blood drive hosts like Farmers Insurance — to help meet this critical need.
