New free app puts Red Cross services at the fingertips of military and veteran communities
WASHINGTON, November 10, 2016 — The American Red Cross recently unveiled the new Hero Care App to help members of the military, veterans and their families identify and access both emergency and non-emergency Red Cross services from anywhere in the world. Currently, this important tool for military families is being featured as part of a Veterans Day promotion in the iTunes App Store.
“The Red Cross is constantly adapting its services to meet the needs of today’s military personnel and their families,” said Koby Langley, senior vice president for Service to the Armed Forces at the American Red Cross. “Knowing that 80% of today’s military is made up of millennials, it’s a natural move to for Red Cross to engage the military where they get the majority of their information and services, and the work of Apple iTunes in supporting our military families is deeply appreciated.”
Some the important features of the app include:
Content in the Hero Care App is available in both English and Spanish, and the call center is staffed 24/7 with multi-lingual translation services.
The Hero Care App is available to download for free in app stores by going to www.redcross.org/apps or texting ‘GETHEROCARE’ to 90999 from U.S based phone carriers.
