A Partnership of Helping Before, During and After Disasters
Amazon is a proud supporter of the American Red Cross with a long history of both early proactive and just-in-time support for communities impacted by disasters. Amazon’s ongoing disaster relief and readiness support includes:
- Disaster Readiness with In-kind Items: Amazon-donated disaster relief items are prepositioned in Red Cross warehouses around the country and at Amazon’s Disaster Relief Hub for immediate use to help communities ravaged by natural disasters.
- Special Needs in Times of Disaster: When unanticipated needs arise, Amazon steps up to help the Red Cross with special requests of in-kind goods. For example, children and adults with autistic spectrum sensitivities can be especially overwhelmed in a disaster relief shelter, so Amazon donates backpacks (developed with the Red Cross) stocked with a weighted blanket, squeeze toys and noise-canceling headphones to help with sensory needs.
