FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (October 21, 2022) – On Wednesday, October 19, the American Red Cross Broward County Chapter hosted its annual Dine & Dock Celebrity/CEO & Experience Auction and 2022 Humanitarian Awards at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The Broward County Chapter hosts this fundraising event—their single largest—to support local disaster response and relief efforts within the community.
During the evening's program, Cindy Imperato, the chapter's immediate past Board Chair and current Co-Event Chair, alongside Mobile Mike, media and entertainment extraordinaire, presented the 2022 Humanitarian Awards. This year's Honorees were Edward "Ted" Christie, President and CEO of Spirit Airlines Inc.; Meghan Grimsley from the City of Hollywood Fire Rescue & Beach Safety; and The Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Foundation, Inc.
All honorees embody the spirit of the Red Cross through their contributions to the welfare and quality of life of South Florida residents.
The highlight of the evening was the live auction where guests bid on experiences like a two-night stay at a luxurious beachfront property with a private dinner by Chef Mark Fiori, a four-hour yacht excursion on the Intracoastal, a summer membership at Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club, among others.
"We're thrilled to have this opportunity to honor our local heroes for their humanitarian efforts, and I want to thank our event committee, corporate sponsors and Board of Directors for helping to make this year's event a great success," said Paula Prendergast, executive director for the Broward Chapter of the Red Cross.
During emergencies, the Red Cross provides shelter, food, and comfort to assist families and entire communities in their time of need. All proceeds raised at this year's Dine & Dock will support the Red Cross in providing relief and comfort to the Broward County community.
