MIAMI, Fla. (December 16, 2021) – On Saturday, February 26, 2022, the Greater Miami & The Keys Chapter of the American Red Cross will host the 38th Annual Red Cross Ball – “A Passion for Red” – at the Pullman Hotel. This signature social fundraising event for the Red Cross in Miami will be chaired by The Tiffany Circle of Greater Miami and The Keys.
This year, the Red Cross will recognize an individual that has been an instrumental ambassador for the Red Cross in the community through their generosity and public support.
Eric Silagy, President & CEO of Florida Power & Light Company, will be presented with the Corporate Philanthropy Award.
“We are grateful to have the tremendous support of our community and local leaders supporting our Red Cross mission,” said Deborah Koch, Executive Director of the chapter. “It is an incredible honor to recognize Eric Silagy for his tireless work and commitment to helping communities devastated by natural disasters.”
Under Silagy’s leadership, FPL serves more than 5.6 million customers with electricity that’s among the cleanest and most reliable in the country for a price that’s lower than the national average. FPL continues to build America’s strongest, smartest energy grid and operates one of the cleanest power generation fleets in the U.S. And, the company’s groundbreaking plan to install 30 million solar panels by 2030 is making Florida a world leader in solar energy. Additionally, FPL continues its long-standing commitment to making the community it serves an even better place to live, work and raise a family. Along with its parent company NextEra Energy, FPL gave more than $19 million to communities in 2020. This past year, FPL partnered with the American Red Cross to assist those in Central America who were left devastated by Hurricanes Eta and Iota. Most recently, FPL pledged $1 million to the Red Cross to support disaster relief and home fire response. Over the last decade, FPL has given more than $1.3 million to support the Red Cross and its disaster response efforts.
This chic, black-tie evening will feature a cocktail reception, a silent auction and a wine wall, a presentation of the Corporate Philanthropy Award, and, of course, dinner and dancing to live music.
Following the Ball, the 3rd Annual Party In Red will bring together Miami’s young professionals in the official afterparty. Up-and-coming philanthropists and influencers can network with their peers and connect to the mission of the Red Cross while having a fun night out. Party In Red is chaired by Carolyn Hicks, an Associate Banker at J.P. Morgan Private Bank, and Eric Milton, Chief Technology Officer at United Property Management.
A special thank you to all of the sponsors who are supporting the American Red Cross Ball: Grove Bank & Trust, Libby Witherspoon, Mary “Mimi” Bradley Shafey – Tiffany Circle National Council Representative, Pike Electric and all other contributing sponsors for their wonderful support this year.
