(March 14, 2026) HONOLULU — As the powerful Kona storm continues to cause widespread flooding, dangerous winds, power outages and ongoing evacuations across multiple islands, the American Red Cross is issuing an urgent call for volunteers to step up today to help support thousands of Hawai‘i residents affected by this severe weather. Red Cross shelters have been opened across O‘ahu, Maui, Lāna‘i, Moloka‘i and are on standby on Kaua‘i as conditions continue to evolve.

Red Cross volunteers are currently providing safe shelter, food, water, disaster health services and emotional support as communities face continued flooding, road closures and prolonged power outages. Tens of thousands of Hawai‘i residents have been left in the dark as transmission lines and infrastructure have been impacted by the storm.
