The Tennessee Region of the American Red Cross is pleased to announce Marlene Sweda as Senior Volunteer Recruiting Specialist.
“We are excited to have Marlene join our team to encourage more people to volunteer for the Red Cross,” said Joel Sullivan, Regional CEO. “She brings to the position a long career of humanitarian work and her experience working with volunteers is a huge plus that will benefit our mission throughout Tennessee.”
Previously, Sweda served as a volunteer coordinator in California with Hospice before moving to the Nashville area with her family. Her passion for volunteering began at a young age, and it is that love of giving back in the community that continues to motivate her in her current position.
“Working for the Red Cross is a special organization because not only can one donate blood, but they can also work side by side with clients when disaster strikes,” Sweda said. “You can volunteer to work with our Service to the Armed Forces, volunteer to teach and train CPR, work in an office setting in any department at the Red Cross offices and even work remotely if they wish. There is truly something for everyone at the American Red Cross.”
Sweda is a California native, growing up in Whittier, Calf. She graduated from Liberty University with her degree in Psychology.
“Sometimes people just like to be asked if they would like to be a volunteer,” she added. “We at the Red Cross know your time is valuable but we sure can use your gifts. I tell individuals, do you, give back to your community by doing what you enjoy, share your gift share your joy.”
The Tennessee Region of the American Red Cross serves all 95 counties in Tennessee, Crittenden County in Arkansas and Desoto and Tunica counties in Mississippi.
