State of Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, Bureau of Working Families
The Bureau of Working Families is responsible for administering programs that provide assistance to low-income families in Wisconsin. The most widely-known program in our bureau is the Wisconsin Works (W-2) employment program, but there are other vital employment programs within BWF, including the Emergency Assistance (EA), Job Access Loans (JAL), and the Transform Milwaukee Jobs (TMJ) and Transitional Jobs (TJ) subsidized employment programs, as well as a variety of programs in our Refugee Programs section. Wisconsin Department of Administration, Division of Energy, Housing and Community Resources
The Division of Energy, Housing and Community Resources (DEHCR) develops housing policy and offers a broad range of program assistance and funds to address homelessness and support affordable housing, public infrastructure, and economic development opportunities. The Division partners with local governments and service providers, non-profit agencies, housing authorities, and developers. In addition, DEHCR administers the statewide program to assist eligible households by providing electric and heating bill payment assistance, as well as benefits and services to assist with energy crisis situations. Eligible households may also receive weatherization services.
