In December 2021, devastating tornadoes tore through several states in the south and midwest, upending thousands of lives – destroying homes, businesses, and livelihoods. The American Red Cross provided shelter, food, relief supplies, and comfort to disaster survivors, as well as financial assistance to severely affected households.
Thanks to our generous donors, the Red Cross is supporting community-based recovery efforts in affected areas in Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri through strategic grants to nonprofit organizations providing vital recovery services. The American Red Cross Community Recovery Grant Program is dedicated to funding organizations and projects that assist the most vulnerable individuals, households and communities in their long-term recovery and resiliency activities with programs and services that embody the Red Cross values of care, respect, diversity, inclusiveness, transparency, and careful stewardship of all donor funds.
For the first round of grant funding, we are focusing on:
- Individual and Household Needs
- Community Recovery Capacity Building, such as projects supporting mental health services, recovery capacity building to support expansion or establishment of programs that support recovery, and rebuild and repair projects
Applications will be accepted from March 10, 2022 to April 22, 2022.
