LOS ANGELES, CA, October 27, 2026 — Since the early morning fire on Oct. 15 heavily damaged a 60-unit apartment building on Kingsley Drive in East Hollywood and displaced well over 100 residents, the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region, local agencies and community partners have united to provide shelter, essential resources and ongoing recovery support for those affected.
Red Cross volunteers and staff supported 112 people affected by the Kingsley Drive fire, including 50 overnight shelter residents at the height of the response. Assistance included emergency shelter, meals and snacks, health services, mental health support, spiritual care, essential need supplies and other recovery resources. Volunteers also managed shelter operations and coordinated logistics to help ensure those affected had a safe place to stay and access to critical resources in the days following the fire.

No organization responds alone. Meeting the needs of more than 100 displaced residents required a community-wide effort. The Red Cross is grateful to the following partners, whose support helped provide critical resources and services throughout the response:
Together, these partners helped provide emergency sheltering, temporary housing options, meals, health and social services, pet care support, laundry services and other essential resources that helped residents begin their recovery.
“In times like these, you see the very best of a community,” said Jacquelyn Clites, CEO of the American Red Cross Los Angeles Region. “From the moment this fire occurred, our volunteers and partners came together to make sure no one faced recovery alone. Their compassion, determination and commitment helped ensure residents had access to the support, resources and hope they needed during an incredibly difficult time. We’re deeply grateful to every organization that stood alongside us in this response.”
As affected residents secure their next steps and shelter operations begin to wind down, many households continue working to rebuild their lives after the fire. The Red Cross remains committed to supporting residents as they move forward and is grateful for the elected officials, nonprofit organizations and community partners whose compassion, collaboration and generosity helped make this response possible.
