Taking a BLS Class

Basic Life Support Training
The American Red Cross offers BLS training for individuals and teams, and courses that are held entirely in person, or through our blended Simulation Learning experience, which combines online classwork with in-person skills sessions. This way, you can learn on your schedule - and in the way that suits you best. Regardless of which type of course you choose, you'll receive instruction from world-class professionals, as well as science-based information that includes the latest protocols, so you can deliver care to those in need and help improve patient outcomes.

Providing BLS Care
For BLS providers, when emergencies arise, it's your job to be able to provide care to whomever is in need. That's why Red Cross BLS classes cover best practices for delivering care to infants, children and adults. And because skills can be lost if they're not used regularly, we also offer refresher materials and a printout of some basic BLS steps that can help you stay sharp between calls.

I liked it!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Angie1274 years agoI’m a first timer so I have nothing to compare it too. But I did feel well prepared as a first timer because of all the emphasis on and repetition of the important parts. It helped cement it in my brain. I’d say it just needs a little more of the physical practicing. I am a particularly small person and could’ve used more practice pressing down so hard.

BLS Class
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Hailey C4 years agoThe in-person class was the best part about the course. Keith Lorenz is not only knowledgeable and friendly - he gave us real life examples, experiences of his that made the problem-solving and critical thinking portion of our demonstrations understandable. You can also tell when someone is passionate about their work and their teaching. Keith exemplifies this. I can't say enough about Keith - I have taken many CPR courses over the years, but didn't feel as confident about it as I do now. Thank you.

STNA,CPCT,TRAUMA LVL 1 EMT PARAMEDIC
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.RHO RHO1 month agoPersonal Statement – BLS Course Experience Taking the BLS course with Ms. Tracy was an absolute game-changer. Standing just 4’9”, she is a true powerhouse—bursting with energy, knowledge, and real-life insight. Ms. Tracy didn’t just teach the material—she broke it down, went in depth, and made sure we all understood every scenario and skill. She created an environment where we all felt comfortable asking questions, practicing hands-on, and truly learning. I now feel confident that if an ... emergency ever happened—God forbid—I could step in and save a life. That confidence came directly from Ms. Tracy’s teaching. Because of her, I was inspired to take the instructor portion of the course, and I now have a strong desire to teach EMT and BLS classes myself. Ms. Tracy, you are the bomb! I would take any course with you again—no hesitation. You rock!

Enjoyed the live demos and practicing on the model
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.mmgn3 weeks agoenjoyed the teacher, a couple things on the exam we did not go over in class but teacher acknowledged the discrepancies and was receptive. some more real world examples of what to expect vs textbook scenarios would be helpful to incorporate and hints to remember steps, since it can be a lot in time of a stressful situation.

Good for both Newbies and Healthcare Veterans
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Silphy1 day agoI've taken several CPR + BLS courses over my healthcare career and I feel this one is the most comprehensive. It seems to use the most updated info, so even someone like me who's been working in healthcare for a while learned a few new things. Also, they use mannequins for CPR that have indicator lights that light up in real time to show if your compression rhythm is approi, which makes it much easier to know what the appropriate compression rate should feel like. I recommend this to anyone ... going into healthcare for the first time or looking to stay up to date with their knowledge.

Don't be intimidated, this is a fun course
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.RedcrossBLS11 month agoI was intimidated because this was my first BLS for healthcare providers course. But the online portion was helpful with video examples of how to correctly give aid. The in-person part was the most intimidating - I was quite scared but my classmates were friendly and the instructor was knowledgeable and very welcoming. The class turned out to be fun, not scary.
