Taking a BLS Class
Basic Life Support Training
The American Red Cross offers BLS training for individuals and teams, and courses that are held entirely in person, or through our blended Simulation Learning experience, which combines online classwork with in-person skills sessions. This way, you can learn on your schedule - and in the way that suits you best. Regardless of which type of course you choose, you'll receive instruction from world-class professionals, as well as science-based information that includes the latest protocols, so you can deliver care to those in need and help improve patient outcomes.
Providing BLS Care
For BLS providers, when emergencies arise, it's your job to be able to provide care to whomever is in need. That's why Red Cross BLS classes cover best practices for delivering care to infants, children and adults. And because skills can be lost if they're not used regularly, we also offer refresher materials and a printout of some basic BLS steps that can help you stay sharp between calls.

It was the best class I have taken so far and I have been in a couple different classes that were not with the American Red Cross. I definitely will continue to recertify with the American Red Cross. I learned so much more and my instructor was great. He really took the time to go over everything and made sure everyone was doing things properly and explained something if someone needed it.

Good Quality but Unnecessarily Long
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.VaEMT3 years agoThe course was good quality and the instructor was thorough, but the slides and videos during the in-person portion took longer than I believe that they should've. I may have just been impatient because I've taken the course before and I was only recertifying, so take my review with a grain of salt. Even with that accounted for, I still think that the information in the slides could have been condensed down into a more efficient presentation. Otherwise, it was a good course with a decent ... amount of hands-on work with adult/infant dummies. The instructor was very polite and I believe that she is competent in the subject matter.

1st time CPR Course
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Hazeleyez2 months agoThis was my 1st CPR class. The instructor was very informative although he ran into technical difficulties while teaching the course. It wasn't his fault, the computers. Lol He remained calm and apologized for the disruption. The instructor was very compassionate in the class and what he was teaching us. Very knowledgeable and made sure the class stayed the course and demonstrated everything correctly.

Couldn't have gone better

It was easy to complete the online learning portion in my spare time. Everything I completed was saved automatically and I was able to pick up where I left off every time I logged back in. The clinical portion was concise, well organized, and provided an excellent review of the material. The instructor was kind, intelligent, and tailored the class to the needs of the ... participants. The mannequins utilized were clean, ample in number, and technologically superior to anything I have used in the past 25 years.

Good for both Newbies and Healthcare Veterans
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Silphy3 days agoI've taken several CPR + BLS courses over my healthcare career and I feel this one is the most comprehensive. It seems to use the most updated info, so even someone like me who's been working in healthcare for a while learned a few new things. Also, they use mannequins for CPR that have indicator lights that light up in real time to show if your compression rhythm is approi, which makes it much easier to know what the appropriate compression rate should feel like. I recommend this to anyone ... going into healthcare for the first time or looking to stay up to date with their knowledge.
