Performing First Aid
At the Red Cross, first aid training prepares you to provide care to children, adults, and pets during times of crisis. However, like many things, if you don't use your skills frequently, they're easy to forget. That's why, when you take our first aid certification classes, you'll also receive free online access to our first aid refreshers and a printable list of the basic steps for performing first aid. This way, you can practice your skills regularly, and keep reminders in the places you might need them most, like in the first aid kit in your car, home, or desk.

Awesome Instructor!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.A aron 753 years agoI attended the Skills Session on January 24th in Minneapolis. The instructor was phenomenal! He went above and beyond just the skills and explained in detail WHY things are done the way they are. It was also helpful that he had real-world experience in the medical field and has been emergency situations. I was required to attend this training for my job and was not enthused about going, however, it turned out to be extremely interesting and I would recommend this training to anyone!

In order to recertify in time, I registered for the online class. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was impressed. The "Missions" were well done, and I was able to watch them a second time for reinforcement. I then went for my in-person skills testing. My instructor was great. She reviewed the highlights and ran us through a practice run before we tested. I am happy to recommend this class.

I leaned a lot and was surprised what I thought I knew about burns was wrong. The instructor was amazing full of knowledge and energy, she actually made the class fun, exciting and learning easy. I know for a fact I can give CPR AND FIRST AID TO AN ADULT OR CHILD WHICH COULD RESULT IN SAVING A LIFE! Thank you Catina!

I enjoyed the class, the person who did the training was well-educated, she gave great practical information, modeled the moves for us, made us practice some situations. This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Kristel3 years agoThis is my second time taking the Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course. Of the two instructors I've had, this instructor, Melanie, was by far the best. She was engaging and interactive. She kept us entertaining and encouraged participation. She was open to question and answered them very well. I love that she provided her own experiences as well. Additionally, she provided a pretty good explanation of why certain steps are taken based on physiological principles. I have my PhD physiology ... and neuroscience, and the way she explained why processes are implemented in a certain way really helped us remember the content.

She is very knowledgeable and represents The American Red Cross well. This was with fifth time taking a CRP/AED/First Aid course and this was for sure my favorite class. It was my first time taking it through the American Red Cross. I learned many new things throughout this class. I also took a First Aid for Opioid Overdose class online a few days after this class and was also very pleased. I plan ... to take one or two more online courses. I help with first aid at my church and I now feel I am more prepared in the event of a medical emergency.

Quick course and donation site!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Niduan1171 month agoMy course in JC,NJ was canceled last minute and I needed to reschedule for that same week because I was on Spring Break. This class thankfully was open. The instructor kept a good pace. Enjoyable to work on the mannequins. Feel more comfortable with the skill set now. I even gave blood afterwards!

The in-person component involved more videos, which I didn't really appreciate as we had already gone through several hours of videos for the online component. Also, a first-aid class like this NEEDS to at least mention Narcan. It is life-saving, and is quick to train.

He made the class engaging, informative, and even fun which I didn’t expect from a course like this. His sense of humor helped ease any nerves, and he created a comfortable environment where I felt confident asking questions. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I understood the steps, not just memorized them. By the end of the course, I feel prepared and empowered to act as a first responder if needed. Highly recommend him to ... anyone looking to learn these lifesaving skills!

I felt like i wasnt doing the compressions fast enough. I think more needs to be done when it comes to practicing cpr. If youre going to do cpr, then you have to be confident in it.

The instructor did an amazing job showing the class how important the skills could be, and was a great teacher. The class was informative, efficient, and I feel equipped to help someone if the time comes.
