Basic Life Support with First Aid
The 2019 Basic Life Support (BLS) course provides healthcare providers and public safety professionals the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adult child and infant patients. First Aid teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns cuts scrapes sudden illnesses head neck back injuries heat and cold emergencies. Students who successfully complete this course will receive certifications for Basic Life Support and First Aid that are valid for 2 years.

Red Cross courses offer Digital Certification, an online version of a Red Cross certificate, which provides anytime, anywhere access to student training history and course certificates. Digital certificates can be viewed, printed or shared online and can be accessed anytime through your Red Cross Account. Each certificate includes a unique ID and a QR code which meets employment requirements and allows employers to easily confirm your certificate is valid. There is no need to carry your printed certificate around anymore!
Continuing Education (CE)
Once training has been successfully completed, healthcare professionals who need continuing education (CE) to maintain licensure or professional certification can obtain accredited CE credit through the American Red Cross.
The American Red Cross is an accredited provider of continuing education by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education (CAPCE).
In support of improving patient care, American Red Cross is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
The Red Cross Continuing Education Program will offer accredited continuing education (CE) credits for the entire interprofessional healthcare team across the full Resuscitation Suiteâ„¢, which includes Basic Life Support, Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Neonatal Advanced Life Support.
