Performing First Aid
At the Red Cross, first aid training prepares you to provide care to children, adults, and pets during times of crisis. However, like many things, if you don't use your skills frequently, they're easy to forget. That's why, when you take our first aid certification classes, you'll also receive free online access to our first aid refreshers and a printable list of the basic steps for performing first aid. This way, you can practice your skills regularly, and keep reminders in the places you might need them most, like in the first aid kit in your car, home, or desk.

Wonderful Class!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Chad12773 years agoThis class went very well. Jennifer White, the instructor, did an amazing job teaching the course. She is very knowledgeable and represents The American Red Cross well. This was with fifth time taking a CRP/AED/First Aid course and this was for sure my favorite class. It was my first time taking it through the American Red Cross. I learned many new things throughout this class. I also took a First Aid for Opioid Overdose class online a few days after this class and was also very pleased. I plan ... to take one or two more online courses. I help with first aid at my church and I now feel I am more prepared in the event of a medical emergency.

Of the two instructors I've had, this instructor, Melanie, was by far the best. She was engaging and interactive. She kept us entertaining and encouraged participation. She was open to question and answered them very well. I love that she provided her own experiences as well. Additionally, she provided a pretty good explanation of why certain steps are taken based on physiological principles. I have my PhD physiology ... and neuroscience, and the way she explained why processes are implemented in a certain way really helped us remember the content.

He made the class engaging, informative, and even fun which I didn’t expect from a course like this. His sense of humor helped ease any nerves, and he created a comfortable environment where I felt confident asking questions. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I understood the steps, not just memorized them. By the end of the course, I feel prepared and empowered to act as a first responder if needed. Highly recommend him to ... anyone looking to learn these lifesaving skills!

The online training was user-friendly and helped me visually understand life-saving steps. Jessica, the instructor, was outstanding—she thoroughly explained each section and was very hands-on. Her teaching style was both informative and motivating, boosting my confidence in administering first aid and CPR. I also liked how she identified individual weaknesses and had us work in groups, making the learning experience ... more personalized and effective.

This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.tay4to52 months agoAlthough the online portion is a bit of a drag (which I guess is to be expected when doing a lengthy online course), I have to give this training 5 stars, as the in-person instructor Don and his assistant Ashley were awesome! The hands-on experience in the class made this much easier to learn. Don was very thorough, and he also made the class fun, which helps keep your attention. Ashley was super helpful also; I noticed her always willing to step in anywhere assistance was needed. 10/10 ... recommend Don & Ashley's class!

Good, not outstanding.
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.CPR11111113 weeks agoClass was effective as a refresher, but could be improved on. The in-person component involved more videos, which I didn't really appreciate as we had already gone through several hours of videos for the online component. Also, a first-aid class like this NEEDS to at least mention Narcan. It is life-saving, and is quick to train.

Really integral to have the In-Person training!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.StayingAlive252 weeks agoThe online course was pretty comprehensive definitely a necessary precursor to the in person learning as it made you memorize all the steps and procedures. There were a few things that weren't mentioned/ or quizzed on before they had been taught. But overall engaging. The In-Person learning was really the most impactful thing. Our instructor Rea was incredible and really helped you use all that memorized theory knowledge and put it to practical use! They even judged and helped improve ... techniques and used many real world scenarios to help you visualize how & when you'd use these skills. Without the in person learning, this training wouldn't have been useable for me just theory that I would have forgotten.

excellent presentation and knowledge

I leaned a lot and was surprised what I thought I knew about burns was wrong. The instructor was amazing full of knowledge and energy, she actually made the class fun, exciting and learning easy. I know for a fact I can give CPR AND FIRST AID TO AN ADULT OR CHILD WHICH COULD RESULT IN SAVING A LIFE! Thank you Catina!
