Performing First Aid
At the Red Cross, first aid training prepares you to provide care to children, adults, and pets during times of crisis. However, like many things, if you don't use your skills frequently, they're easy to forget. That's why, when you take our first aid certification classes, you'll also receive free online access to our first aid refreshers and a printable list of the basic steps for performing first aid. This way, you can practice your skills regularly, and keep reminders in the places you might need them most, like in the first aid kit in your car, home, or desk.

Excellent instructor
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Kristel3 years agoThis is my second time taking the Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course. Of the two instructors I've had, this instructor, Melanie, was by far the best. She was engaging and interactive. She kept us entertaining and encouraged participation. She was open to question and answered them very well. I love that she provided her own experiences as well. Additionally, she provided a pretty good explanation of why certain steps are taken based on physiological principles. I have my PhD physiology ... and neuroscience, and the way she explained why processes are implemented in a certain way really helped us remember the content.

What I needed refreshers on was easily explained via the online portion but the skills in person portion was the best part. The instructor gave awesome scenarios of potential situations to assist participants not only skill building, but also how we may react quickly in a real situation. Highly recommend this course and the instructor!

I enjoyed the class, the person who did the training was well-educated, she gave great practical information, modeled the moves for us, made us practice some situations. It was an excellent class, thank you!

Comprehensive Training
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.EWood2 months agoMaintaining a current First Aid/CPR certification is mandatory for my job role. I find both the online and in person portion of this training to be comprehensive and gives the tools needed to be confident in administering life saving care to an individual in need. The in person instructor for this course was absolutely phenomenal, the best instructor I have had in all the Red Cross courses I have take. He made it very easy to learn and offered constructive feedback to instill confidence and ... accurate technique. The in person class was enjoyable, insightful, and fun.

So patient, clear, but very keen on making sure that all participants exhibited mastery of the material and execution of various CPR/First aid skills. He should be promoted if possible (apologies, I don’t remember his name). Great great class! I feel confident in my own ability to provide first aid if ever needed.

Just what I needed
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.QIZU3 years agoI'm required to stay up-to-date on certification in AED/CPR/FA for my job, and since my job wasn't allowed to do our normal in-person trainings this year due to COVID, we were all on our own. The online class followed by the 1-year provisional in-person class ended up being perfect for me. Everything I needed to review was covered, and in a way I could easily understand. The instructor for the in-person class was a little cranky at first, but it was early in the morning, so no judgement. He ... ended up covering everything we needed to know very professionally once we actually got started.

This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.A aron 753 years agoI attended the Skills Session on January 24th in Minneapolis. The instructor was phenomenal! He went above and beyond just the skills and explained in detail WHY things are done the way they are. It was also helpful that he had real-world experience in the medical field and has been emergency situations. I was required to attend this training for my job and was not enthused about going, however, it turned out to be extremely interesting and I would recommend this training to anyone!

Excellent Training

Serious enough to let us know how important this life saving training is and funny enough to keep the whole team engaged. I learned a lot in this session and having the app available for later usage is awesome. I have seen trainings in the past from other organizations that made it difficult to stay awake. This was a great use of time.
