Whether you take an instructor-led class, an online course, or take advantage of our blended learning experience, which combines online coursework with instructor-led training, you'll learn from some of the best in the industry. Knowledgeable, understanding and able to deliver information suited to a wide range of learning styles, American Red Cross first aid instructors will help ensure that you not only understand the steps for performing first aid, but that you have the confidence and skills necessary to perform them correctly.

Performing First Aid
At the Red Cross, first aid training prepares you to provide care to children, adults, and pets during times of crisis. However, like many things, if you don't use your skills frequently, they're easy to forget. That's why, when you take our first aid certification classes, you'll also receive free online access to our first aid refreshers and a printable list of the basic steps for performing first aid. This way, you can practice your skills regularly, and keep reminders in the places you might need them most, like in the first aid kit in your car, home, or desk.

Awesome Instructor!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.A aron 753 years agoI attended the Skills Session on January 24th in Minneapolis. The instructor was phenomenal! He went above and beyond just the skills and explained in detail WHY things are done the way they are. It was also helpful that he had real-world experience in the medical field and has been emergency situations. I was required to attend this training for my job and was not enthused about going, however, it turned out to be extremely interesting and I would recommend this training to anyone!

Just what I needed
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.QIZU3 years agoI'm required to stay up-to-date on certification in AED/CPR/FA for my job, and since my job wasn't allowed to do our normal in-person trainings this year due to COVID, we were all on our own. The online class followed by the 1-year provisional in-person class ended up being perfect for me. Everything I needed to review was covered, and in a way I could easily understand. The instructor for the in-person class was a little cranky at first, but it was early in the morning, so no judgement. He ... ended up covering everything we needed to know very professionally once we actually got started.

Great Instructor!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.MariaV2 months agoEtienne is an incredible instructor. Not only did he review all of the important practices but he taught us why what we were doing mattered and how our actions affect the body and save lives. I walked away feeling even more confident in my ability to help in case of an emergency. He had great energy, sprinkled in humor, and redirected incorrect techniques with kindness. I'd take a full day training with him if I had to. Thank you Etienne.

Wonderful Class!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Chad12773 years agoThis class went very well. Jennifer White, the instructor, did an amazing job teaching the course. She is very knowledgeable and represents The American Red Cross well. This was with fifth time taking a CRP/AED/First Aid course and this was for sure my favorite class. It was my first time taking it through the American Red Cross. I learned many new things throughout this class. I also took a First Aid for Opioid Overdose class online a few days after this class and was also very pleased. I plan ... to take one or two more online courses. I help with first aid at my church and I now feel I am more prepared in the event of a medical emergency.

Really informative
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.MH283 years agoI did the adult and infant CPR/first aid/AED class. I was nervous to go because I have zero experience with any of those things. By the end of the class I had not only gained a lot of information but had practiced a lot of the skills and felt confident that I would be able to help in an emergency situation. The instructor also informed the class about an app that we can use to keep up on our skills which is also really helpful. Overall, I'm very happy that I went to the class.

Excellent First Aid Class
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Steve18951 month agoThis class is worth every minute spent and builds confidence to tackle many first aid scenarios. The instructor brought real life examples to each problem which assisted me in understanding how important it is to observe my surroundings and help without further endangering anyone. I took this class as a requirement but would enroll simply to enhance my knowledge.

Outstanding Instructor
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.First Responder Glam Tech1 month agoI had a great experience with my instructor! He made the class engaging, informative, and even fun which I didn’t expect from a course like this. His sense of humor helped ease any nerves, and he created a comfortable environment where I felt confident asking questions. He took the time to explain everything clearly and made sure I understood the steps, not just memorized them. By the end of the course, I feel prepared and empowered to act as a first responder if needed. Highly recommend him to ... anyone looking to learn these lifesaving skills!

Excellent instructor
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Lasher35 years agoI have taken this course a total of 15 times in my 30-year career as an early childhood educator. Gerald made the class engaging and allowed time for the other professionals in my course to network and share our experiences and knowledge with one another. It was the first time it did not feel like a long day.

The teacher was great; clear and very funny! I appreciate that she made it entertaining (while taking things seriously). As someone who's been certified before, I was so glad that I was able to take a preassessment on the online sections so that I didn't have to sit through material I was already comfortable with. Unfortunately, the website to find the class absolutely sucks, and it was super difficult and time consuming to navigate : /

Great teaching
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.sice2 weeks agoI really appreciated the blended learning. I was able to learn the book work at my pace and review it thoroughly before going in to demonstrate the technique. I also really liked that our instructor had real world experience with all of the material and was able to help us think through scenarios where the ideal environment presented in the training videos weren't available (e.g., there is no chair to sit in to give an infant the required back blows and chest compressions or how to help someone ... larger and taller than you.)
