Performing First Aid
At the Red Cross, first aid training prepares you to provide care to children, adults, and pets during times of crisis. However, like many things, if you don't use your skills frequently, they're easy to forget. That's why, when you take our first aid certification classes, you'll also receive free online access to our first aid refreshers and a printable list of the basic steps for performing first aid. This way, you can practice your skills regularly, and keep reminders in the places you might need them most, like in the first aid kit in your car, home, or desk.

Just what I needed
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.QIZU3 years agoI'm required to stay up-to-date on certification in AED/CPR/FA for my job, and since my job wasn't allowed to do our normal in-person trainings this year due to COVID, we were all on our own. The online class followed by the 1-year provisional in-person class ended up being perfect for me. Everything I needed to review was covered, and in a way I could easily understand. The instructor for the in-person class was a little cranky at first, but it was early in the morning, so no judgement. He ... ended up covering everything we needed to know very professionally once we actually got started.

Great Class but Slightly Strange Format

I felt a lot more confident in my knowledge and abilities after the class. My only issue with the class is that I took the Adult First Aid/CPR/AED class but the in-person skills class also included the children's section so I had to sit through some information that I wasn't getting certified for. It wasn't a big deal but it seems like they should have put that information at the end so those who didn't need that ... information could leave early.

Blended class option was great
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Great blended class2 weeks agoThe blended class was a great option because I could go into the in-person portion with a strong base knowledge, and then really focus on the polishing the skills. For me, this was an ideal method to retain information. The instructor was effective and engaging and made good use of our time together.

Excellent instructor
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Kristel3 years agoThis is my second time taking the Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course. Of the two instructors I've had, this instructor, Melanie, was by far the best. She was engaging and interactive. She kept us entertaining and encouraged participation. She was open to question and answered them very well. I love that she provided her own experiences as well. Additionally, she provided a pretty good explanation of why certain steps are taken based on physiological principles. I have my PhD physiology ... and neuroscience, and the way she explained why processes are implemented in a certain way really helped us remember the content.

I have previously been a CPR instructor and been CPR certified and I believe this is the most entertaining and informative class I have ever taken through the Red Cross. I also appreciate how much safety was emphasised during the class as we are still in a pandemic. The fact that the ARC as a whole and the instructor individually were clear about taking that seriously is something that I am very grateful for. It ... was a very good experience over all.

Some hiccups.
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.Dmugs2 weeks agoMy company signed me up for the class. A little frustrating when the class was canceled after I had begun the online training portion. My company resigned me up and I was able to complete the course. Though the online portion was a little deceptive on how long that portion would take. The in class portion went a lot smoother. I appreciated the instructor trying to keep it light with a little humor.
