Easy Bridging to Become
a Red Cross Instructor
Do you or your Instructors, Instructor Trainers and/or Training Center Faculty hold a current Instructor certification from a comparable training organization such as the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Health & Safety Institute (HSI)? If so, it’s easy to bridge to American Red Cross training courses.
1. Register for the appropriate bridge.
2. Fill out the online form and submit it with the required credentials.
3. Review program materials for the course.
4. Take the free online Instructor bridge course. No in-person class is required.

Easy Crossover or Reentry Courses to become a Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor
Do you have Instructors and/or Instructor Trainers certified with another equivalent training program and interested in teaching Red Cross Lifeguarding Programs? It’s easy to get trained by completing an abbreviated blended learning crossover course designed for Instructors to achieve Red Cross instructor certification to teach. For more information, visit the Instructor Candidates Page on the Red Cross Learning Center.
If you are unable to find a course in your area, please reach out to your local aquatic facility.

It was fine
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.SuzyA4 years agoNot super interesting; a lot of reviewing the manual and answering questions. I think a few videos showing skills or how to teach the skills would have been helpful and made the course more interesting.

Great teaching ideas
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.Netz4 years agoI am glad I did this-while taking the bridging course to meet the needs of the community, I really liked some of the great instructional ideas for class. Where I am struggling now is finding the instructional material links to send out to a class to start! I’ve emailed them but haven’t received an answer. PS-the site, even tho it issued me a card, it would not show my progress complete-I took my assessment twice to get it to register complete.

Good practice session!
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.Anonymous3 years agoGiven the format (Teams video), this was a good option. Obviously face-to-face hands-on practice and coaching would have been better.

Was confusing at first
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.mzcheryl5 years agoGetting started is a little tedious but once you get going it is ok. It took me a week between credential upload to take the class as i was waiting for a go ahead email. I finally went into the website and discovered that my credentials were good and i could take the class. Uploading credentials for every class you want to take is kind of a pain in the butt. Don't try to start anything just before a holiday weekend. I work weekend so i thought it was perfect time to get started, not. Uploaded ... certification Thursday evening and had to wait until Tuesday to be approved. Website stated Monday the holiday closed but nothing about Friday. I was dissapointed.
