Lumberton resident Sierra and her family have spent the last week and a half sleeping on cots pushed together to form one giant bed at the Red Cross shelter. “My two older ones, Mackenzie and Jacobie, have enjoyed the time playing with all of the other kids including their cousins staying here too, but my little one is clinging close to his mama,” says Sierra. Little Christian is celebrating his 5th birthday in just a few days and will most likely be celebrating in the shelter since the family’s home was flooded and now needs completely gutted. Despite that Sierra plans to celebrate his birthday in style and no doubt the Red Cross volunteers will help make the day special.
