The American Red Cross thanks everyone who has taken the time to support its third annual nationwide Giving Day.
Thank you for uniting with thousands of people to make an impact on Red Cross Giving Day to help families affected by disasters. Your generous gifts will provide hope and urgent relief like food, shelter and other essentials to 27,800 families affected by disasters big and small.
There’s still time to support the Giving Day campaign. It’s not too late to #help1family. If you didn’t have a chance to join us on Giving Day, you can still help.
WHAT YOU CAN DO

RED CROSS RESPONDS TO NEARLY 64,000 DISASTERS EVERY YEAR
Every year the victims of nearly 64,000 disasters both large and small rely on the Red Cross for immediate help. From small house fires to multi-state natural disasters, the Red Cross goes wherever needed to help people in their most devastating hours.
Behind these statistics, however, are individuals and families that rely on their neighbors for help during their time of most need. For example, a gift of $88.50* can support a family of three with a day’s worth of food, blankets, comfort and other essentials.
In 2016, Red Cross volunteers responded to 180 significant disasters in 45 states and two U.S. territories including wildfires, storms, flooding, Hurricane Matthew and other emergencies. More than 32,000 Red Crossers opened nearly 800 emergency shelters providing 206,000 overnight stays, served more than 4.1 million meals and snacks and distributed more than 2.1 million relief items. In addition, thousands of people across the country were impacted by a fire in their home.
