What motivated you to start a fundraiser for the Red Cross?
It came down to accountability. However, the inspiration came from Seth, who had long made outrageous claims - like eating 240 oysters in one sitting. We thought, “Let’s put your money where your mouth is” - and raise money for a great cause in the process.
What is your connection to the Red Cross?
I’ve always known about the Red Cross and respected its reputation. Honestly, there’s no better motivator than raising money for a fantastic organization like the Red Cross.
What did you enjoy most about fundraising for the Red Cross?
The evolution of the event was the most fun. It started as a personal challenge for Seth but grew into a community experience with a party, live-streaming, and even a custom website where people could guess how many oysters he would eat. The best part was seeing everyone get excited and involved in their own way.
What are your top fundraising tips for future participants?
Make it fun and light-hearted. Seth’s challenge turned into a legendary moment within our friend group, but in the end, it was all for fun. People will always get behind a good cause.
