Companies and Retailers Offer More Ways to Support the Lifesaving Mission of the Red Cross
The American Red Cross Holiday Giving Page is one way you can help those in need this holiday season while honoring a friend, family member or colleague with your financial donation, but there are also other easy ways to support the humanitarian services and mission of the Red Cross – including ways to give while you shop this holiday season!
Give While You Shop at Circle K
If you’re heading out to shop at your local Circle K store on the West Coast, in Florida or in the Coastal Carolinas, look for collection canisters at checkout to make an easy contribution to the Red Cross.
American Girl
American Girl is collecting donations for the Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces program to help provide comfort and care to the members of the military, veterans and their families. American Girl will match every dollar donation made at Americangirl.com or at any American Girl store in the U.S., up to $75,000. American Girl has also donated $575,000 worth of dolls to the Red Cross in hopes of providing a bit of cheer to children in times of crisis.
You Shop, Amazon Gives
Sign on to AmazonSmile and designate the Red Cross as your preferred charity, and then begin your virtual shopping trips at smile.amazon.com. You’ll find the same selection and prices as on Amazon.com, but when you check out, AmazonSmile will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of each eligible item to the Red Cross.
Give 101 Percent with PayPal
Throughout the month of December, when you donate to the Red Cross through the PayPal Giving Fund, PayPal will add 1% to every donation made. PayPal will also pass on 100% of every donation made to the Red Cross.
Give of Yourself
Of course financial donations are critical to the operation of nonprofit organizations, but the Red Cross also relies heavily on those who give of themselves. During the busy holiday season, the Red Cross wants to express its deepest gratitude for people who volunteer their time and donate blood and platelets to help others. The need for help is constant. In as little as an hour, you can make a difference and help save lives by donating blood. Work with your company to host a blood drive for an even greater impact, or sign up to become a Red Cross volunteer. You can learn more about how donating your time or blood can help save a life by visiting redcross.org.
Whether you give through the Red Cross holiday giving page, make a contribution through one of these generous companies or donate your blood or time, you will reap the joy that comes from giving something that means something this holiday season.
