Why Take an AED Class?
Save Time and Money. Personalized, Flexible Learning.

AED Training
The American Red Cross delivers best-in-class training online and in hundreds of locations across the country. With instructors who have the latest science-backed information, as well as the knowledge and skills needed to teach you how to save a life – no matter what your learning style may be – we can help you receive AED certification, as well as the confidence to provide care when it's needed most.

Using an AED
Being able to provide help to anyone at any time is a powerful thing. That's why, at the Red Cross, AED classes are designed to teach you how to use an automated external defibrillator on both kids and adults. This way, you can provide care - no matter where you are or who the "patient" may be. Unfortunately, unless you take actions to retain your skills, you're likely to forget how and when to use an AED. So, to help you stay prepared we offer online refresher materials that allow you to test your skills as often as you'd like. We also provide you with access to a printable list of the basic steps for using an AED that you can keep at your desk, in your first aid kit, and more - and review them at any time.

Instructor and Training Were Great!
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.StephRiv4 years agoI didn't know what to expect when I signed up for this course because of how Covid has really changed the way we do almost everything. So I was worried it would be more video instruction and not so much hands on. I actually really ended up loving the video modules followed by the in class instruction. Our instructor was very articulate in explaining the CPR and AED procedure. And, yes, you do get to practice with a "dummy". I think that the instructor made something that can be mundane an ... enjoyable and memorable experience.

Great Class
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Bjmyangel6 years agoClassroom portion was a combined class for Adult CPR/AED, Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED, as well as Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid. Each participant was released at the end of their specific class if they did not take the full Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid class. The instructor was very good, gave clear instruction, and had a great personality. That sure makes classroom time go quickly! The online portion was quick and well done.

Great experience
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.DarlinKitty553 years agoI had no clue what to experience. The instructor was professional, gloves, masks and hand sanitizer were provided as well as individual dummies for everyone enrolled. I was only there for the CPR/AED session, so I didn't get to experience the First Aid course, but the experience was great. It kept my attention, the slides and videos were quick and engaging. I really liked the hands-on portion. I will definitely take this course again in 2 years and look forward to it.

Learning to Save a Life
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.CancerWarrior4 years agoWhile you hope you never need it, CPR/AED training is insurance just in case the need arises. Melanie was the instructor for our class and made 3 hours vanish it went by so quickly! She talked to us not at us, asked questions about our experience and why we wanted to learn. She helped those who might not grasp the concept as quickly, but was always helpful and supportive! She is friendly and knowledgeable about what she teaches and enjoys the personal interaction with her students. She is most ... definitely in the right place doing the right job!

Made me want to keep learning and practicing
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.GSCa3 years agoThe online portion was a little glitchy at times, but the organization was stepped well, required increasing autonomy to internalize skills while keeping a good amount of support/scaffolding, and in general felt like people who were good instructors designed it. The sections were a good length. The in-person instructor, Randy, was excellent. To the point but also patient, used humor well, and I felt set a high bar for himself and the class while also being extremely supportive. I was actually ... a little disappointed to leave and would like to take further training with him.

Great Class but Slightly Strange Format
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Nicole44813 years agoThe class was great and they fit a lot of information into a short amount of time. I felt a lot more confident in my knowledge and abilities after the class. My only issue with the class is that I took the Adult First Aid/CPR/AED class but the in-person skills class also included the children's section so I had to sit through some information that I wasn't getting certified for. It wasn't a big deal but it seems like they should have put that information at the end so those who didn't need that ... information could leave early.
