Taking a Babysitting Class

Babysitting & Child Care Courses
Red Cross babysitting and child care courses can help you provide quality care to children of all ages. Developed by experts in the industry , our online and in-person courses are available to those ages 11 and older, and include topics such as choosing age-appropriate activities, basic child care, like feeding, child behavior, diapering, picking up a child safely, and more.
Please note: Red Cross child care courses are not intended for those seeking certification for state-licensed child care providers and does not meet all state requirements for such certification.
Babysitting Materials
Once your Red Cross babysitting and child care training is complete, you'll still have access to all of your course materials, including your Babysitter's Training Handbook on the Red Cross Learning Center. This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Jblechar1 year agoMy 12 year old enjoyed this class a lot. She was fortunate to have a small class and gained a lot from both instructors. She learned so much and walked away feeling more confident and ready to babysit for others. I wish there was an option to get officially CPR certified after this course or as an add on?

Good class but missing some vital info
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.LuluH6 years agoMy daughter took this class. She thought it was good info and enjoyed it. That said, she was disappointed there is no CPR aspect (as I believe there was in the past?) because she really wants to learn that as well. I don't see any non-certification CPR classes available through American Red Cross that seem to fit the bill for this kind of thing. This seems like vital info that is missing if someone is interested in babysitting, particularly since there doesn't appear to be another class that ... fills in that gap without full certification which seems excessive for a 12 year old.

Great staff & class
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.bobo871 week agoI took this class so I can get certified for babysitting and people are more likely to hire me. They didn't particularly watch us that closely for the CPR part and my friend still doesn't know some of the stuff. The staff was nice though, and I do know how to take care of toddlers and infants now.

I thought it was good, the only thing is that the teachers were a bit unorganized and didn’t know a whole lot what they were doing when it came to the mannequins.

Great class
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Wes30303 months agoI really enjoyed this class and learned a lot! I did not know how to take care of infants before and learned how to change a diaper and feed a baby. I also learned a lot about how to help children resolving conflict while babysitting and different leadership styles to try depending on the situation. I liked the videos too.
