Taking a BLS Class

Basic Life Support Training
The American Red Cross offers BLS training for individuals and teams, and courses that are held entirely in person, or through our blended Simulation Learning experience, which combines online classwork with in-person skills sessions. This way, you can learn on your schedule - and in the way that suits you best. Regardless of which type of course you choose, you'll receive instruction from world-class professionals, as well as science-based information that includes the latest protocols, so you can deliver care to those in need and help improve patient outcomes.

Providing BLS Care
For BLS providers, when emergencies arise, it's your job to be able to provide care to whomever is in need. That's why Red Cross BLS classes cover best practices for delivering care to infants, children and adults. And because skills can be lost if they're not used regularly, we also offer refresher materials and a printout of some basic BLS steps that can help you stay sharp between calls.

BLS Class
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Hailey C4 years agoThe in-person class was the best part about the course. Keith Lorenz is not only knowledgeable and friendly - he gave us real life examples, experiences of his that made the problem-solving and critical thinking portion of our demonstrations understandable. You can also tell when someone is passionate about their work and their teaching. Keith exemplifies this. I can't say enough about Keith - I have taken many CPR courses over the years, but didn't feel as confident about it as I do now. Thank you.

Good Quality but Unnecessarily Long
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.VaEMT3 years agoThe course was good quality and the instructor was thorough, but the slides and videos during the in-person portion took longer than I believe that they should've. I may have just been impatient because I've taken the course before and I was only recertifying, so take my review with a grain of salt. Even with that accounted for, I still think that the information in the slides could have been condensed down into a more efficient presentation. Otherwise, it was a good course with a decent ... amount of hands-on work with adult/infant dummies. The instructor was very polite and I believe that she is competent in the subject matter.

Great Class
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.NMS20251 month agoThe instructor was great and very knowledgeable. I appreciate that she truly made participants practice the skills and the training mannequins were different from others I've worked with. Very cool. Although a real person won't light up, I think it was good feedback for people who don't know how to compress properly.

BLS class
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Billiee1 week agoI recently took the BLS class as I needed it for nursing school and it went well beyond my expectations. Etty (sorry for the spelling, definitely not how he spells his name) was amazing. He was funny and his positive uplifting attitude made it easier to learn. I would recommend this class to everyone and I will be returning when it is time to renew my BLS.

Thorough, Enthusiastic Instruction
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Eddie V1 day agoI was very pleased with my Basic Life Support training. The facilitator Amy was detail oriented and thoughtful in her instruction. She emphasized the importance of following each step when helping someone, and she made our groups restart the process during the simulated intervention portions of the seminar if we happened to miss something. Her ability to interweave between the Red Cross presentation and the hands-on exercises was excellent.

Good show
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.roselani1 month agoThe online certification was very long and comprehensive. I wish there was a playback feature where i could 1.5x or even 2x the speed. The in-person certification was fine, but I think there needs to be a higher teacher to student ratio. My class had 1 teacher to 12 students, but I think it would greatly help if there was a teaching assistant or something of the like. This is a personal problem, but I would also like to be pointed to classes that I could take for extra practice although I’m ... certified already.
