Taking a BLS Class
Basic Life Support Training
The American Red Cross offers BLS training for individuals and teams, and courses that are held entirely in person, or through our blended Simulation Learning experience, which combines online classwork with in-person skills sessions. This way, you can learn on your schedule - and in the way that suits you best. Regardless of which type of course you choose, you'll receive instruction from world-class professionals, as well as science-based information that includes the latest protocols, so you can deliver care to those in need and help improve patient outcomes.
Providing BLS Care
For BLS providers, when emergencies arise, it's your job to be able to provide care to whomever is in need. That's why Red Cross BLS classes cover best practices for delivering care to infants, children and adults. And because skills can be lost if they're not used regularly, we also offer refresher materials and a printout of some basic BLS steps that can help you stay sharp between calls.

Good Quality but Unnecessarily Long
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.VaEMT3 years agoThe course was good quality and the instructor was thorough, but the slides and videos during the in-person portion took longer than I believe that they should've. I may have just been impatient because I've taken the course before and I was only recertifying, so take my review with a grain of salt. Even with that accounted for, I still think that the information in the slides could have been condensed down into a more efficient presentation. Otherwise, it was a good course with a decent ... amount of hands-on work with adult/infant dummies. The instructor was very polite and I believe that she is competent in the subject matter.

BLS Education and Training
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.SNM13 weeks agoIt was time for me to renew my BLS Certification, so I contacted The Amercian Red Cross to enroll in a class. The instructor that was assigned to our class was absolutely outstanding. He was meticulous in explaining the "why's and what for's" in every aspect of this course as well as continual reinforcement of the principles. He was an expert in engaging with the class, assessing the individual abilities of the students and then coaching them to ultimate success. In short, a master educator and ... trainer! This was a fantastic class!

I appreciate that she truly made participants practice the skills and the training mannequins were different from others I've worked with. Very cool. Although a real person won't light up, I think it was good feedback for people who don't know how to compress properly.

This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.RoxyR2 weeks agoEvery two years I have to renew my BLS, but this time the class was very enjoyable and educational. I learned more than in other BLS classes. The instructor was very interactive, and I really liked it. I will recommend Red Cross for BLS.

Excelllent Instructor

I have been BLS (or equivalent) certified for at least 12 years and this course put together my previous experience and knowledge and made me very comfortable to teach it in the future.
