Taking a BLS Class

Basic Life Support Training
The American Red Cross offers BLS training for individuals and teams, and courses that are held entirely in person, or through our blended Simulation Learning experience, which combines online classwork with in-person skills sessions. This way, you can learn on your schedule - and in the way that suits you best. Regardless of which type of course you choose, you'll receive instruction from world-class professionals, as well as science-based information that includes the latest protocols, so you can deliver care to those in need and help improve patient outcomes.

Providing BLS Care
For BLS providers, when emergencies arise, it's your job to be able to provide care to whomever is in need. That's why Red Cross BLS classes cover best practices for delivering care to infants, children and adults. And because skills can be lost if they're not used regularly, we also offer refresher materials and a printout of some basic BLS steps that can help you stay sharp between calls.

Good Quality but Unnecessarily Long
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.VaEMT3 years agoThe course was good quality and the instructor was thorough, but the slides and videos during the in-person portion took longer than I believe that they should've. I may have just been impatient because I've taken the course before and I was only recertifying, so take my review with a grain of salt. Even with that accounted for, I still think that the information in the slides could have been condensed down into a more efficient presentation. Otherwise, it was a good course with a decent ... amount of hands-on work with adult/infant dummies. The instructor was very polite and I believe that she is competent in the subject matter.

Very informative. Best class I have taken so far.
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.muziani54 years agoI took the BLS class in Princeton NJ. It was the best class I have taken so far and I have been in a couple different classes that were not with the American Red Cross. I definitely will continue to recertify with the American Red Cross. I learned so much more and my instructor was great. He really took the time to go over everything and made sure everyone was doing things properly and explained something if someone needed it.

BLS Education and Training
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.SNM12 weeks agoIt was time for me to renew my BLS Certification, so I contacted The Amercian Red Cross to enroll in a class. The instructor that was assigned to our class was absolutely outstanding. He was meticulous in explaining the "why's and what for's" in every aspect of this course as well as continual reinforcement of the principles. He was an expert in engaging with the class, assessing the individual abilities of the students and then coaching them to ultimate success. In short, a master educator and ... trainer! This was a fantastic class!

Excelllent Instructor
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.JBerglund6 years agoI took the BLS instructor course last week and could not be more impressed with the instructor. I have been BLS (or equivalent) certified for at least 12 years and this course put together my previous experience and knowledge and made me very comfortable to teach it in the future.

Good show
This reviewer rated product 4 out of 5 stars.roselani2 weeks agoThe online certification was very long and comprehensive. I wish there was a playback feature where i could 1.5x or even 2x the speed. The in-person certification was fine, but I think there needs to be a higher teacher to student ratio. My class had 1 teacher to 12 students, but I think it would greatly help if there was a teaching assistant or something of the like. This is a personal problem, but I would also like to be pointed to classes that I could take for extra practice although I’m ... certified already.

Good for both Newbies and Healthcare Veterans
This reviewer rated product 5 out of 5 stars.Silphy3 weeks agoI've taken several CPR + BLS courses over my healthcare career and I feel this one is the most comprehensive. It seems to use the most updated info, so even someone like me who's been working in healthcare for a while learned a few new things. Also, they use mannequins for CPR that have indicator lights that light up in real time to show if your compression rhythm is approi, which makes it much easier to know what the appropriate compression rate should feel like. I recommend this to anyone ... going into healthcare for the first time or looking to stay up to date with their knowledge.
